Laurel Gray (2nd from right), CTE student from NIHS, was honored by the ISS Board of Education in December 2020 for being selected as a 20-21 US Presidential Scholar.  Laurel was one of 5 students selected to represent NC at the National level.  Congratulations Laurel!

In the Spring of 2020 FFA students from North Iredell High School were recognized for their winning efforts at the NC State FFA Career Development Events (CDE).  Students placed 1st overall in the Business Mangament CDE, 3rd overall in the Horse Evaluation CDE and 3rd overall in the Agricultural Mechanics CDE.  Congratulations to these students and to their FFA Advisors, Ms. Irby and Mr. York!

CTSO Student Showcase

In the Fall of 2019 Statesville HS FFA students competed at the Vet Assisting Career Development Event at Lee County High School in Sanford, NC.  Students had to demonstrate their knowledge in all facets of veterinary science, from breed and parasite identification to clinical and handling practicums. Team members (pictured left to right)  Sylar Moss, Laura Sarmiento Carvajal and Akili Turner finished 4th in the Northwest Region.  Mr. Ethan Holland is their FFA Advisor.  Congratulations!  

CTSO Student Showcase

Students from Lake Norman High School recently competed at the DECA Region 6 event in Winston Salem.  15 schools competed with over 250 participants.  All 12 members from LNHS were recognized in at least one area for performance such as Apparel and Merchandising, Marketing, Sports Marketing as well as Travel and Tourism.  Mr. Chris Carroll is their advisor.  

 

 

 

CTSO Student Showcase

In the Fall of  2019, NIHS FFA Junior and Senior Livestock Evaluation Teams competed in Raleigh. The senior team (consisting of Allison Cook, Laurel Gray, Angelina Vargas, and Alleigh Johnson) placed 18th in the state out of 105 teams. Laurel Gray was the 4th high individual in the state out of 378 competitors.  The junior team (consisting of Nathan Campbell, Natalie Tucker, Abby Martin, and Codi Barker) placed 48th out of 78 teams. The livestock evaluation career development event provides the opportunity to learn and apply livestock industry and production priorities through evaluation and selection of beef cattle, swine, sheep and meat goats.

Congratulations!  Students from North Iredell High School FFA recently competed at the National FFA Dairy Judging Contest (October 30 - November 1, 2019) held in Indianapolis, ID.  The team placed 12th overall in the nation and Laurel Gray place 7th overall individually.  Pictured from left to right: Emily Holland, Laurel Gray, Rachel Gray, Lance Johnson.  Lauren Irby is their FFA Advisor.

CTE is proud to recognize Laurel Gray from NIHS who is the first recipient of the John Kirkman Honorary CTE Scholarship.  Laurel will attend NC State and major in Agribusiness.  Congratulations!
