Canvas is Iredell-Statesville Schools' learning management system (LMS) that brings K-12 classroom tools together.

The following resources will help you leverage Canvas for student learning:

Canvas Support

1. Canvas Coaches by Schools (I-SS currently has 23 coaches through the district. These individuals are Canvas Champions, Ambassadors, and Ninjas. If you have a coach in your building, talk to them, pick their brain, ask them questions of how they leverage Canvas for student learning.). Learn Canvas

     1. NCEES Self-Paced Canvas PD Courses

NC Digital Teaching and Learning is excited to share two new self-paced professional development courses on the LMS, Canvas.

• Growing with Canvas - The Growing with Canvas course is a “Level 1” introduction to all things Canvas.

• Diving Deeper with Canvas - Educators more familiar with the LMS can utilize the Diving Deeper with Canvas course for specific training on personalized learning, feedback, and course design.

  2. Master Canvas Teacher Learning Pathway: You can take all four courses to become a Master Canvas Teacher or your can take each course a la carte style. The learning pathway includes four courses:

  • Ready! Set!! Go!!! Mastering Skills to Leverage Canvas

Canvas Parent Observer
Encourage the parents/caregivers of all your students to be Parent Observers. 

This FAQ will get them started and answer all questions they may have about being a parent observer.

Guide Parents to the Parent Portal located under Students/Parents on the issnc.org home page. This page will provide parents with a wealth of resources to connect as a Parent Observer.

Managed Apple IDs are special district-created and district-owned accounts that provide access to Apple services. Managed Apple IDs are designed to meet the privacy and security needs of schools, including limitations on purchasing and communications, and role-based administration.

ISS Apple IDs sync with Google accounts, so the usernames and passwords are the same for each.

Features for teachers and students

Managed Apple IDs are designed to access key iCloud services that are typically used in an education setting, as well as a few features built specifically for schools.

• Upgraded iCloud Storage. Managed Apple IDs receive 200GB of free iCloud storage.

• Access to iCloud services. iCloud services include Shared iPad, iCloud Drive, Photos, Safari, Notes, News, Calendars, Reminders, and Backup.

• Schoolwork. Class rosters created in Apple School Manager are automatically available in Schoolwork. Student progress reporting can optionally be enabled in Apple School Manager.

• iWork collaboration. Teachers and students in the same organization can collaborate with iWork and Notes.

• Books (not available in all regions). Books, including books purchased in bulk, can be assigned to Managed Apple IDs.

Become a certified Apple Teacher by completing Apple's self paced courses for teachers.

Choose to earn badges for iPad or badges for Mac. 

You may use your managed Apple ID as you start your Apple Teacher Journey.
