School Safety
The Iredell-Statesville School System recognizes our responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. The safety and security of our school cannot be assumed. The school system and the community must work together to proactively pursue strategies to address safe schools.
Iredell-Statesville Schools (I-SS) addresses emergency readiness with a district Safe School Plan. This plan requires each school to develop and maintain a site-specific Safe School Plan. These plans are aligned to the four phases of crisis management as identified by the National Incident Management System.
Safe School Plans address a range of events and hazards including: severe weather, fire, crime/violence, transportation, medical/public health, and hazardous materials. In addition, five schools that are in the area of McGuire Nuclear Station address radiological emergencies.
